Self Love is Easy
Self Love is Easy
Know your power. You,
digital numbers ticking
under cracked toenail polish,
adding or subtracting with
hitched breath, burning throat. Hear
the plastic creak under
your weight in the cold stale
bathroom, in the glaring white
of the dressing room.
Pull your shoulders back and try
to ignore the clicking
of the number going up
in your ears, the details
of your skin, the scrutinizing
wind chipping the edges
of your brittle teeth.
Take its power for yourself and
ignore it, though
you know
you can’t.
